Lineage
09.1939 at the outbreak of the was a second line Territorial Army division, being a duplicate of the 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division. Placed on Lower Establishment in November 1941, it was raised to Higher Establishment in March 1943 and reorganized as a Mixed Division, before finally being reorganized as an Infantry Division in September 1943.
