operation against Berlin. It was airborne 21:25 hrs 29.03.1943 from 
Syerston. Shot down by a night-fighter (Leutnant August Geiger, III. 
Gruppe/Nachtjagdgeschwader 1) and crashed 04:29 hrs 30.03.1943 at Lievelde 
(Gelderland), 4 km NNE of Lichtenvoorde, Holland. They are all buried in the 
General Cemetery. P/O Mantle gained his DFM while serving with No.144 Sqdn, 
details Gazetted 30.01.1942. 14.05.1943 the Gazette carried details of his First
